AI

What it does: Writes product copy for you with AI — product titles, descriptions, short summaries, image alt-text, and category/brand descriptions. You click a button, AI drafts the text, and you keep or tweak it.

Free vs Pro: Generating text one field at a time (right in the product editor) is Free. Bulk generation across many products at once needs StoreEngine Pro.

What you need first

StoreEngine’s AI feature uses WordPress’s own built-in AI connection — StoreEngine never stores your API keys.

1. You need WordPress 7.0 or newer.
2. Connect an AI provider in WordPress Settings → Connectors (this is where your API key lives).

3. Go to StoreEngine → Add-ons and turn on AI.

Until a provider is connected, you’ll see a notice: “Connect an AI provider to start generating product and SEO content with StoreEngine,” with a Set up Connectors link. The Generate buttons stay hidden until then.

Set your writing style (optional)

Go to StoreEngine → Settings → AI (under the Advanced group). These defaults apply to every generation unless you override them in the editor:

• Tone — Professional, Friendly, Persuasive, or Minimal.
• Language — leave blank to use your site’s language, or type e.g. “German”.
• Creativity — 0 = precise and factual, 1 = more creative.
• Preferred model — leave blank to use your connector’s default.
• Offer AI image alt-text generation — toggle on to allow generating alt-text for product images.

Generate copy for one product

1. Open (or create and save) a product — AI needs a saved product for context.
2. Next to a field you’ll see a ✨ Generate with AI button. It’s available for:
   • Product Title
   • Product Description
   • Short summary (excerpt)
   • Image alt text (shows once the product has a featured image)
3. Click it. The button shows Generating…, then drops the draft into the field and shows Saved.
4. Read it, edit anything you like, and update the product.

You can also generate a description on the Category and Brand edit screens the same way.

Generate for many products at once (Pro)

With StoreEngine Pro:

1. Go to StoreEngine → Tools → AI — Bulk generation.
2. Choose the Field to generate — Description, Short summary, Title, or Image alt text.
3. Set Maximum products to process (up to 500).
4. Click Start bulk generation and watch the progress (Queued → Processing → Completed, with done/failed counts).

⚠️ Bulk generation overwrites the chosen field on published products. Review the results afterwards.

Troubleshooting

• No Generate button — connect a provider in Settings → Connectors and make sure you’re on WordPress 7.0+.
• Button missing on a new product — save the product first; AI needs the saved content for context.
• Bulk tab shows an upsell — that’s a Pro feature; install StoreEngine Pro.
